Matarangi , we feel, is the undiscovered jewel of the Coromandel. A small village situated on the east coast of the Coromandel Peninsula, just 20 minutes north of Whitianga.
5 kms. of pristine white sand ocean beach affording totally safe swimming with sweeping views of the Mercury Islands and Great Barrier Island beyond.
Native forests, rolling hills and a fantastic variety of birdlife and flora present a wonderful diversity of natural beauty.
At the village centre there is a general store for supplies, café (which has a good take-away menu also), hardware and hire centre and a liquor store.
